July Meeting Minutes

James Ireland, President called the meeting to order at 7:00pm with 19 members in atten-dance. The June minutes were approved as published in the Pony Express.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Carol Sipes was out of town. Last month’s report read by James. James stated two more members had been added. Report approved.

MCA Report: MCA Representative Tom Sipes was out of town attending a Fox Body Convention in Ohio.

New members present: Ricky Pridemore of Mabelvale, owner of an 2004 GT Convertible.
Johnathan Durey of Conway, owner of a 2009 GT.

James reminded members of the rally with the Four States club coming up in August. Pavilion #1 on DeGray Lake is reserved 10am to 2pm(Editor note - This event has been cancelled and possibly moved to October). Our club participated last year with approximately 10 to 13 members. Members brought picnic lunches and reported having a lot of fun. James invited the Red River (Louisiana) club to join us as well. We will follow up on the invitation to confirm participa-tion.

Dale Mashburn gave a report on the events at Tulsa, in particular the cruise Thursday night of the meet. The cruise ran along the riverfront area and ended in the historic downtown. Starting at about 5pm, the Tulsa Police Department did an excellent job of defending the route, including pull-ing a few wayward minivans that squeezed in to the cruise out of the line and on to side streets. Aside from lots of late model Shelbys, there were two 1968 1/2 factory 428cj drag cars sitting alongside one of the new CJ cars, at least 3 Torinos, and an Australian Falcon. A large array of Mustangs with race history. Something for everyone to enjoy. Dale contrasted this year’s cruise to the cruise in 1979. That year was lead off by a 427 Cobra and traveled one half mile down Peoria Avenue.

Our own Brian Harris got to spend some quality time on the Hallett Road track. Kevin Olson rode along on some laps.
Participation at the Tulsa Dragstrip was slightly down from previous years, most likely credited to the intense heat experienced last year.
Show Chairman Report: Dale Cole reported no show meeting was held last month. Dale pointed out we are in the three month window before the show. Issues to be dealt with in committee in-clude ordering trophies and tee shirts. Brian has agreed to work for the show handling the sound package. He will take care of any licensing issues as needed.

Tina Cole was the winner of the door prize, a beautiful 1966 Mustang puzzle with tin box.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm.

James Ireland, President called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. The March minutes were ap-proved as published in the Pony Express.

Treasurer Carol Sipes reported 46 members currently paid up for this year. Ricky and Sherry Pridemore were introduced as new members. They have a 2004 GT convertible. Motion to ac-cept treasurer?s report made and approved.

Old business:

  1. 1. Tom Sipes, reporting for Warren Walker who was unable to attend, went over the agenda for the Branson trip. Some members plan to meet at 9:00am, Cracker Barrel in Conway, for breakfast with plans to leave out around 10:00 for trip to Branson. Room rates for the Clas-sic Motor Inn are still $55.00 a night for participants. It was mentioned that a group of 15 or more going to the Automobile museum will get a discounted fee of $9.00 each. Steve sug-gested the group may try to assemble after 2:00pm Friday to tour the museum.
  2. Tom Sipes gave the MCA report. Tom attended the national MCA show in Pensacola. The show was at the fairgrounds this year with 379 cars. Tom enjoyed 4 1/2 hours of the show, reporting a good mix of car, tons of late models and fox bodies, lots of parts. The Pensacola show also uses popular vote for their 2009 and 2010 entrants.
  3. Mustang Magazine, a new upstart publication, contacted Tom for more information on CAM. Tom handed out some of the magazines. Publication appears to be well-written with an em-phasis on technical information, particularly for the earlier generation Mustangs
  4. Removed - top secret stuff.
  5. Show chairman Dale Cole reported schedule conflicts prevented a show meeting. Charlotte received a commitment from Riser Ford for $1,500.00 sponsorship at this year?s show.
  6. Pat Kirwin reported speaking to Carol Dolens and others about planning a Mustang birthday party. Those contacted were enthused about the idea, but the consensus was that there was not enough time to properly prepare. It was suggested that the club target the 50th anniver-sary in 2014. Dale Cole asked Tom Sipes if the MCA had plans for the 50th. Tom mentioned the NW Texas club?s plans. Pat was asked if he would be willing to work on a 2014 event. It was mentioned that the 40th anniversary Mustangs across America enjoyed the hospitality Little Rock offered the participants. Steve Collins offered to have a cookout at his home on April 17th and the club heartily agreed
  7. Membership—James reminded members of the free membership offer for anyone bringing 5 new members into the club. Warren Walker had designed, commissioned, and paid for attrac-tive handouts that members can place on Mustang windshields, a means to introduce the club to Mustang owners encountered in the community. Club members enthusiastically voted to reimburse Warren for the expense. Fliers were extremely well received by the group.
  8. Steve asked to be informed of any upcoming car shows. Contact Steve with information at for the calendar at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

New Business:

  1. James stated that as a result of attending the planning committee with other area clubs earlier this year, he has received 30-40 show fliers. James reminded members to report trophies and awards received at other shows to the editor, so they can be included in the Pony Express.
  2. Jim Wilson brought beautiful sample jackets with the CAM logo for the members to view. Jim reports the lightweight lined windbreaker style jacket displayed cost $40 for jacket with logo on front, adding $20 for the large logo on the back and $5 for person?s name on front. Jim also showed a picture of an attractive polo shirt with chest logo for $20.
  3. Steve confirmed the cookout for Saturday April 17th. A blast email will be sent with details. Preliminary plans are to meet at 1:00 pm in the Shackleford Crossing parking lot (Shackleford exit off 1-430) in front of J. C. Penney and cruise to Perryville.

Kevin Tullos won the door prize, a sharp Jeg?s cap and a bottle of cleaner
